TTQ Volunteer Rewards

Table Tennis Queensland would like to congratulate our Volunteer Reward recipients announced at the TTQ AGM on Saturday 28th March 2020.

Since his arrival on the Gold Coast, not just as a Division 1 (and now Division 2) player but also served on the Gold Coast Table Tennis Association committee as a Member, a Secretary and a Treasurer for a number of years.

Notably, Zark was to be almost single-handily involved in the Clubs extension. He regularly played not only in the Clubs events but also represented it in State and National events Australia wide, with a silver medal at the Australian Veterans a few years ago.

For the past 10 years he has been involved in officiating at many table tennis events. For that reason, he underwent various accreditation exams and acquired corresponding experiences now holding the rank of an International Umpire and a State Referee. The culminating officiating event for him was, of course, the Commonwealth Games held at the Gold Coast two years ago, but he also participated in numerous Club, State, National and ITTF sponsored events every year to date and will continue to do so for the sport he loves so much.

Gerard came onto the Ipswich Table Tennis club committee in 2009 and has been the President since 2013. He has been instrumental in providing direction for the club by getting a club strategic plan implemented. As a result of this the following improvements have been completed.

A club website was established, a new club logo was designed, new club apparel was organised with our logo, a quarterly club spirit award was instigate and there was an improved sense of the camaraderie with in our club. The Ipswich Table Tennis club has recently changed venues and Gerard was involved in making sure the transition went smoothly.

Gerard also helps out at club fundraising events providing free water for the volunteers as well as volunteering. As President, he ensures the meetings are run to a strict agenda and are kept on track. With the recent change of venue, the site for our end of year function was no longer available and Gerard hosted this event at his house. Gerard has also arranged for the students to come and play table tennis by driving them to and from the school to the venue in support of our table tennis community.
