Executive Officer - Jason Walsh
Jason was appointed the Executive Officer of Table Tennis Queensland in July 2013. He previously worked as the TTQ Sports Development officer in the South East Queensland area. Previous to this he worked in the sport industry gaining experience in facility management and event coordination.
Jason completed a Bachelor of Business at the University of Queensland majoring in Sport and Leisure Management in 2010. His focus is on directing the sport of Table Tennis in Queensland to increase participation levels across the state, coordinating successful state championships and improving the service provided to the TTQ members.
Jason started work with Table Tennis Queensland in August 2011.
Administration Manager - Karen
Karen has been involved in sports industry as a sports coordinator, administrator and manager since 1992. Starting with a commercial sporting organisation developing the largest beach volleyball competition in Brisbane at the time, whilst becoming more involved in the organising and fixturing of various sporting competitions.
Karen also has worked for the two National Sports Federations, one of them being Table Tennis Australia implementing effective administration systems, along with providing support to all members and member bodies. Karen’s new focus is to administer the smooth and efficient operation of Table Tennis Queensland State office and is looking forward to the new challenge.
Karen started work with Table Tennis Queensland in June 2006.
State Development Officer - Greg Fox
Greg commenced work late in 2015 with his development position focused on the roll-out of the new Sporting Schools program in Queensland. As part of this initiative he will be working with member associations to transition school-children to regular table tennis activities. Further Greg is keen to consult with clubs to develop targeted strategies to increase junior participation and capacity.
Prior to joining TTQ, Greg has worked in a variety of positions in the sports sector over the past two decades including the Australian Sports Commission as a Regional Coordinator in the Active After School Communities program. Also he has extensive experience in the sport of basketball as a player, coach, adminstrator and consultant.
Greg hold a Bachelor of Health Science degree with a specialisation in Sports Management from Griffith University.
High Performance Manager - Gary Walmsley
Gary Walmsley has been involved in Queensland and Australian Table Tennis for the past 40 years. He competed as an athlete at Regional, State and National level, as well as Internationally for Nihon University in Japan. Gary was trained by world renowned Coach Ichiro Ogimura of Japan and Korean Coach Park Sun In.
He has made a successful transition to Coaching, having Coached the Queensland Under 21 Men’s teams to two Gold Medals and one Silver Medal. He has been the recipient of the Table Tennis Queensland Coach of the Year Award on two occasions and for the past seven years has been Head Coach of Townsville Table Tennis.
Gary is passionate about the success of Queensland Table Tennis, its’ Athletes and Coaches. He looks forward to the opportunity to represent TTQ as the High Performance Manager and will bring his vast experience, enthusiasm and dedication to the role.
Gary started working with Table Tennis Queensland in February 2017.
Assistant High Performane Manager - Franck Roguiez
Franck started table tennis at age 9 during a session organised at school. A few months later, he was enrolled in the closest club, in which he played for the next 15 years. During his journey as a player, Franck reached the French 3rd League, and won the French 4th League title with his team. He then moved to the other side of the barrier and became a coach alongside his studies in Economics and Finance.
He is now a certified Level 2 Coach in Australia. Franck is fascinated about the game and its evolution, and is aiming to bring more professionalism into the development of the Queensland young athletes.
Franck started working with Table Tennis Queensland in February 2017.
Coaching Course Presenter - Patrick Wuertz
Patrick has been involved in table tennis for the last 15 years as a player, coach and manager. Coming from a high performance background as a player, Patrick began working for the largest state table tennis federation in Germany, developing and implementing training concepts, for high performance players and conducting coaching courses to accredit German level 1, 2 and 3 coaches. In conjunction with this, he further developed his studies with a Bachelor Degree in Health Management including Exercise Science and Health Promotion.
Patrick brings a unique vision and has a passion for developing young players in both their sporting career and personal life. He is excited to make connections with other coaches and endeavours to enhance their skills to improve the level of training statewide.
Patrick started work with Table Tennis Queensland in September 2015.
