The International Table Tennis Federation drives a worldwide Hopes Program aimed at detecting young talents (Under 12) and supervising them from the earliest stages. The process starts with TTQ implementing a state identification event. We believe by detecting players earlier and providing them with the tools to succeed will raise the level of table tennis in our junior age groups.
This programme is in preparation for the National Hopes Program that includes a training camp and tournament. Through this, players are selected to compete at continental and then world stage.
TTQ will select and pay entry fees for one male and one female player to represent Queensland at the National Hopes Week & Challenge to be held from 7 - 11 April at Traralgon, VIC.
Venue: South Pine Sports Centre, 620 South Pine Road, Brendale
Event Dates: Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 January 2024
Event Schedule: Saturday 10:00am to 5.00pm / Sunday 9.00am to 2.00pm
Coaching Group: Matthew Pettett (QLD High Performance and Development Coordinator) and other coaches to be confirmed.
Camp Cost: $50.00 + equalisation fee
Equalisation fee: TTQ uses an equalisation fee to assist and encourage players from outside the SEQLD area to attend. Travel to the Camp will be equalised for all players who have to travel to Brisbane from Bundaberg north. (The amount payable per player cannot be advised until all players have confirmed with registration). In addition to the travel equalisation fee, a fee of $50 will be levied to attend the camp. This levy is expended on court hire & coaching.
Eligibility: Players qualify via one of the regional QLD Hopes event (State Final invite only)
QLD Hopes Competition (Sunday 19 January): Open to players born in 2013 and after to be eligible for to compete at the National Hopes event.
